2026 Blessing of the Fleet

Annual maritime tradition celebrates Panama City's fishing heritage and community spirit

The 29th Annual Blessing of the Fleet is set to take place at the Panama City Marina on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

 

This cherished maritime tradition honors the local fishing community and celebrates the rich nautical heritage of St. Andrews.

Free to Attend. $15 for Fish Fry

 

9:00 AM: Event opens with local vendors and music

10:00 AM: Opening ceremonies begin

 

The day's festivities commence with a Fish Fry from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, available while supplies last.

Attendees can savor freshly prepared fish accompanied by classic sides, embodying the communal spirit of the event.

 

At noon, a procession of water vessels will navigate the marina, each receiving a blessing for a safe and prosperous season ahead.

 

This solemn ceremony underscores the community's deep connection to the sea and its traditions.

 

Following the procession, the unique Burning of the Socks ritual will take place.

 

Participants are encouraged to bring their old socks to burn, symbolizing the shedding of winter and the welcoming of warmer days.

 

Proceeds from the event will benefit Second Chance of Northwest Florida, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting brain injury survivors and their families.

 

Various sponsorship opportunities are available for those wishing to support this significant community event.

 

Options range from the Fleet Admiral Presenting Sponsor at $2,500, which includes prominent recognition and 25 meal tickets, to the Friend of the Fleet Sponsorship at $175, offering recognition and two meal tickets.
