Bay County Approves Griff Griffitts as New TDC-CVB President and CEO

County commissioners officially approve tourism leader following unanimous TDC selection

Bay County officials have officially approved Philip Wayne "Griff" Griffitts as the new President and CEO of the Tourist Development Council and Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Griffitts' appointment became official Tuesday when the Bay County Board of Commissioners gave their approval. The move followed his unanimous selection at last week's TDC meeting.

A Smooth Transition Into Leadership

With any new position, settling into the role takes time. Tuesday's approval marked an important milestone in that process. Now, the TDC can move forward with contract negotiations.

County leaders say Griffitts' background made the decision straightforward. His experience growing up in the hotel industry, combined with his various roles as a community leader, positioned him as a natural choice for the position.

County Leaders Praise the Selection

County Commissioner Doug Moore expressed strong support for Griffitts' appointment.

"With his personal business as well as working through the TDC, he's been very active over at the state representing us," Moore said. "He's very familiar with all the issues that are going to be facing the TDC from a state level as well. With his practical experience and background, I think he's an excellent choice for serving in that position at the TDC."

What This Means for Bay County Tourism

The TDC-CVB plays a vital role in promoting Panama City Beach and Bay County as destinations for visitors. Under new leadership, the organization will continue its mission of driving tourism and supporting the local economy.

Interim CVB-TDC President Clair Pease will assist Griffitts during his transition into the role. This handover period will help ensure continuity in tourism initiatives and ongoing projects.

Local business owners and tourism stakeholders will be watching closely as Griffitts steps into this key position. His track record in both business and community service suggests a focus on growth and collaboration.
