Downtown Panama City Holiday Shopping Season Kicks Off with Festive Events |
Local Businesses Thrive as Community Celebrates the Season |
Downtown Panama City is alive with holiday cheer as the community embraces the festive season.
Local businesses are experiencing a surge in activity, thanks to a series of events designed to draw shoppers and celebrate the holidays.
On Friday, December 5, the Annual Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will illuminate the Center for the Arts at Four Points Plaza at 5:30 PM.
This event marks the beginning of a weekend filled with holiday festivities.
Following the tree lighting, the Price Family Christmas Light Show will dazzle attendees with a choreographed display set to music.
Shoppers can explore the Holiday Bazaar presented by Bay Arts Alliance, featuring handcrafted goods from local artisans.
The bazaar runs on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continues Saturday, December 6, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Update: Due to expected inclement weather on Saturday, December 6th, the Panama City Christmas Parade has been rescheduled to Sunday December 7th beginning at 5 PM.
On Sunday the Christmas parade will travel from the Downtown Marina along Harrison Avenue, concluding at Tommy Oliver Stadium.
Residents and visitors can enjoy festive floats, music, and a strong sense of community spirit.
Local business owners are optimistic about the season.
"The reopening of Harrison Avenue has made a significant difference," said Madalyn Jones, owner of Can’t Hide Pretty Boutique.
"With easier access and parking, we've seen a noticeable increase in foot traffic."
Jenny Kelley, owner of Bookish Boutique, echoed this sentiment.
"Our Black Friday was one of the busiest days we've had since opening nearly two years ago," she said.
"It's clear that people are eager to support local businesses and enjoy the downtown atmosphere."
Looking ahead, the 39th Annual Boat Parade of Lights is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at 5:30 PM.
Illuminated boats will sail from the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club to the Hathaway Bridge, offering a spectacular view from various points along the bay.
These events not only bring joy to the community but also provide a significant boost to local businesses.
As the holiday season unfolds, downtown Panama City continues to be a hub of activity, welcoming all to join in the celebrations. |
