FWC Announces Two License‑Free Fishing Weekends in June 2026

Cast a line, skip the license, and enjoy Florida’s great outdoors

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is inviting everyone to grab their rods and reels for two license‑free fishing weekends this June, perfect for seasoned anglers and first‑timers alike.

These special weekends allow both Florida residents and out‑of‑state visitors to fish recreationally without purchasing a license, making it the ideal time to introduce friends or family to the sport.

📅 June 2026 Free Fishing Dates

* Saltwater Free Fishing June 6 & 7, 2026 The first consecutive Saturday and Sunday of June

* Freshwater Free Fishing June 13 & 14, 2026 The second consecutive Saturday and Sunday of June

🔍 Important Rules & Perks

  • Waivers Included: During the saltwater weekend, anglers can fish without a snook or spiny lobster permit. The exemption applies whether you’re fishing from a boat, pier, shore, or even crabbing and scalloping.

  • Regulations Still Apply: All bag limits, size limits, gear restrictions, and species closures remain in effect.

  • Local Processing: After the event, you can purchase a full annual license online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com or locally through the Bay County Tax Collector’s Office.

🌊 Why It Matters

License‑free fishing days are designed to make Florida’s waters more accessible, encouraging families to spend time outdoors and helping newcomers experience the thrill of fishing without the upfront cost.

“These weekends are a great way to get people hooked on fishing,” says the FWC. “It’s a chance to take youth fishing or introduce a friend to the sport.”

🐠 Year‑Round Opportunities 🎣

FWC offers several license‑free days throughout the year:

  • Freshwater: First consecutive Saturday & Sunday in April, second in June

  • Saltwater: First consecutive Saturday & Sunday in June, first Saturday in September, and the Saturday after Thanksgiving

🎣 Cast, Catch, and Celebrate

Whether you’re chasing redfish along the coast or bass in a quiet lake, June’s license‑free weekends are your chance to enjoy Florida’s natural beauty, no paperwork required.

So pack your tackle box, bring the kids, and make a splash this summer!
