Freeport Freshman Basketball Phenom Athiei Dhal Lands First Division I Offer from Ohio State

6'9" standout averages 27.4 points per game in remarkable freshman season

Athiei Dhal is not your average freshman.

Standing at 6 feet 9 inches tall, the Freeport High School basketball star has already accomplished what most athletes only dream of. On April 28, Dhal announced via social media that she has received her first Division I scholarship offer from Ohio State University.

A Remarkable Freshman Season

Dhal's freshman season was nothing short of spectacular. In 27 games, she averaged an impressive 27.4 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks per game while shooting 69% from the field.

Her dominance on the court has placed her among the elite players in Florida. She currently ranks No. 8 in scoring, No. 12 in rebounds, and No. 3 in blocks among all players in the state.

National Recognition

Dhal's talent has not gone unnoticed on the national stage. As a top prospect in the Class of 2029, she recently showcased her skills competing with the HER Elite Nike EYBL team in Phoenix, going head-to-head against some of the nation's best young players.

The Ohio State offer marks just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting recruitment journey for the Bay County phenom.

Why This Matters for Panama City

Dhal's success puts Freeport High School and the entire Panama City area on the map for college basketball recruiters. Her achievement demonstrates that world-class athletic talent is being developed right here in our local community.

For young athletes across Bay County, Dhal serves as an inspiration that dedication and talent can open doors to prestigious opportunities, even as a freshman.

As Dhal continues her high school career, local sports fans will be watching closely to see which other top programs join Ohio State in pursuing this exceptional young athlete.
