Celebrate America & The Memorial Trail Brings Patriotic Fun to Bay Memorial Park |
Free family event on July 2 will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and preview Panama City’s planned Memorial Trail. |
Panama City will begin the Fourth of July weekend with a patriotic community gathering that blends history, family fun, and a look at the future of one of the city’s meaningful public spaces.
Celebrate America & The Memorial Trail will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Garden Club at Bay Memorial Park, located at 810 Garden Club Dr. in Panama City. Hosted by Panama City Parks, Culture and Recreation The free event is being hosted as the community prepares for America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, while also introducing residents to proposed improvements for the Memorial Trail at Bay Memorial Park.
The event is designed to be relaxed, family-friendly, and patriotic. Guests can enjoy complimentary hot dogs and ice cream, take part in classic yard games, and test their knowledge during Star-Spangled Trivia. A special appearance by Benjamin Franklin will add a historical touch to the afternoon, giving families a fun way to connect the celebration to America’s founding story.
Beyond the food and games, the heart of the event is the Memorial Trail itself. Attendees will have the opportunity to view proposed plans for improvements, learn more about the vision for the trail, and meet representatives from the partner organizations helping bring the project to life.
The proposed Memorial Trail is expected to add a deeper sense of history and reflection to Bay Memorial Park, a green space already used by residents for walking, fitness, disc golf, and outdoor recreation. The park’s natural setting, with trees, open space, and walking paths, makes it a fitting location for a trail that honors service, sacrifice, and community pride.
According to local reporting, the trail is planned to begin near the pilot’s memorial and move through the park toward the existing memorial wall. Future elements may include additional features such as a Patriots Wall, with the broader project expected to continue into 2027.
For Panama City, the timing is meaningful. July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Communities across the country are using this milestone to reflect on America’s past, celebrate local heritage, and look ahead to the future. In Panama City, Celebrate America & The Memorial Trail gives residents a chance to do all three in a local setting.
The event also serves as a reminder that patriotism is not only found in fireworks and flags, but also in the spaces communities build to remember those who served. Bay Memorial Park’s planned Memorial Trail will give families, veterans, service members, and visitors a place to walk, reflect, and honor the people who helped shape both the nation and the local community.
For anyone looking to start the Independence Day weekend a little early, this free event offers a simple but meaningful way to gather with neighbors, enjoy an afternoon outdoors, and learn more about a project that could become an important part of Panama City’s civic landscape.
