Quote Of The Day

"Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid, but in the end, it is always beautiful." - Unknown

Historic St. Andrews came alive this weekend as the annual St. Andrews Mardi Gras Parade drew crowds of families, music lovers, and vendors for a spirited celebration.

Festivities began with the Salty Paws Pet Parade and Kids’ Krewe Parade, where children and their pets dazzled in playful costumes, creating instant memories for everyone.

Throughout the day, the bustling St. Andrews Market showcased handmade goods, local art, and coastal treats.

Live music from bands like True Soul, Village Brass Band, and others transformed the streets into an open-air concert.

At sunset, the Main Parade took center stage on Beck Avenue, bursting with glowing floats and the energy of the “Joie de Vivre” theme as bead-throwing thrilled attendees.

For the first time, a radiant drone show sparkled over St. Andrews, delighting festivalgoers.

The ongoing growth of Bay County, fueled by projects like Voltari Electric’s new headquarters, echoed the parade’s spirit of progress and community pride.

Panama City Beach will enact a High Impact Period from March 28 to April 11, 2026, to address the expected spring break crowds.

This designation introduces increased safety measures and regulations throughout the city.

Authorities anticipate a significant influx of visitors, putting pressure on local resources.

In response, officials will enforce a curfew for unaccompanied minors—no one under 18 without a parent or legal guardian may be in public areas from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Law enforcement presence will rise, especially targeting underage drinking and large, unsupervised gatherings.

There will be zero-tolerance for violations, with a focus on juvenile and alcohol-related offenses.

Coordination between the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, city police, and state agencies aims to keep the community and visitors safe.

Businesses in affected zones may see new security requirements as the city prepares for a safe Spring Break 2026.

The Martin Theatre, a landmark in downtown Panama City, is in the midst of an exciting restoration that aims to revive its storied legacy and boost its role as a cultural gathering place.

First opened as The Ritz Theatre in 1936, this beloved venue suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Michael in 2018, forcing it to close and leaving a noticeable gap in the city’s arts scene.

Determined to restore the theatre, the city launched a major renovation in January 2025, focusing on three interconnected buildings: the Martin Theatre, the Ritz, and the new Tennessee House.

About 40% of the steel work has already been completed. Jared Jones, Assistant City Manager, expressed confidence in the project’s progress, envisioning a vibrant hub for live events and performances.

Preserving the Art Deco charm while adding modern amenities, the new complex will reinforce community spirit and serve as a symbol of Panama City’s resilience and commitment to its cultural roots.
