Pirates of the High Seas Returns to Panama City Beach |
Renaissance festival adventure builds toward festival fireworks October 9–11 |

Pirates of the High Seas & Renaissance Fest is returning to Panama City Beach October 9–11, bringing three days of pirates, mermaids, knights, live entertainment, parades and family fun to the Pier Park area.
The annual celebration is free to attend and combines the beach town’s popular pirate tradition with a Renaissance festival atmosphere filled with swordplay, costumed characters, live performances and an enchanted marketplace.
For families looking for something different to do during a fall weekend at the beach, this is one of those events where dressing the part is half the fun.
Friday, October 9, starts with a Pirate Breakfast Experience at Hyatt from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by the main festival opening at 4 p.m.
Friday afternoon and evening include performances by Misfits of Fortune, Capt. Davy and the Crossbones, The Mead Sisters & The Masked Marauders, Studio by the Sea and other entertainers spread across the festival stages.
Young swashbucklers get their moment in the spotlight during the Krewe of Dominique Youx Kid’s Parade from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., followed by the Ball Drop and Opening Ceremony at 6 p.m.
Visitors can also catch a Knight Meet & Greet, a Pirate Crawl and several live mermaid appearances before Friday’s festivities wrap up at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 10, is the biggest day of the weekend, beginning with a Pirate Breakfast Experience at Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort from 8 to 10 a.m. before festival gates open at 10 a.m.
The daytime schedule is packed with pirate music, Renaissance entertainment, live mermaid exhibits, knight combat, Fire Circus Productions and appearances by Pirates of Taylor Creek, Bedlum Bones and other performers.
The mix of pirate adventure and Renaissance-style entertainment gives the festival its own personality, with something happening throughout the day on multiple stages.
One of Saturday’s signature events is the Krewe of Dominique Youx Main Parade, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.
The evening continues with mermaid encounters and another Fire Circus performance before festival fireworks light up the night from 8 to 8:15 p.m.
Sunday, October 11, begins with a Pirate Breakfast Experience at Embassy Suites from 8 to 10 a.m., while the festival gates open at noon for the final day.
Sunday’s lineup includes The Pirates Who Learn to Say Please, Fire Circus Productions, Crossbones Renaissance Music, Misfits of Fortune, Capt. Davy & The Crossbones, The Mead Sisters & The Masked Marauders and additional pirate-themed entertainment.
Families can also watch more live mermaid shows, visit the Arena for knight meet-and-greets and combat demonstrations, and enjoy the lively atmosphere around the Pirate’s Pub and Masquerade stages.
The official schedule has Sunday closing at 6 p.m., giving visitors a final afternoon to wander the festival grounds and soak up the pirate and Renaissance atmosphere before the last treasure is found.
Beyond the performances, the event is designed as an immersive experience, with costumed pirates, gentry and squires, an enchanted marketplace, sword and whip demonstrations, a Pirate’s Pub and plenty of photo opportunities.
Kids who love pirates, mermaids and knights will have plenty to see, while adults can enjoy the performances, marketplace and the playful transformation of one of Panama City Beach’s busiest entertainment districts.
The festival takes place in the Pier Park and Aaron Bessant Park area of Panama City Beach, with activities spread among several stages and event spaces.
Because the weekend includes parades, stage shows and high-attendance evening events, arriving early is a smart move, especially for families hoping to find a comfortable viewing spot.
Costumes are not required, but pirate hats, eye patches and Renaissance outfits fit right in and can make the experience even more memorable.
With three days of entertainment and no general festival admission charge, Pirates of the High Seas offers locals and visitors an easy way to turn an October weekend into a full family adventure in Panama City Beach.
Whether your crew comes for the parades, the mermaids, knight combat, live entertainment or Saturday night fireworks, there will be plenty of reasons to say “arrgh” and stay awhile.
The PCB Seafood Festival is also going on Oct 9-11 in Panama City Beach. |
