Bay County Council on Aging Offers LIHEAP Assistance to Low-Income Households

The Bay County Council on Aging is committed to assisting low-income individuals and families through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

This program provides crucial support to help households manage the high costs of heating and cooling.

Key Programs & Providers:

• * EHEAP (Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly): For low-income households with someone 60+, helping with energy emergencies, shut-offs, and equipment repairs, notes Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

• * Salvation Army (Florida Division): Provides utility, mortgage, and rent assistance; contact your local branch.
• * Beach Care Services (Panama City Beach residents): Offers help with electric, gas, water bills, and deposits when funding is available.

To qualify for LIHEAP assistance, applicants must provide the following documents:

Current energy bill (electric or gas) in the name of a resident at the service address.

Proof of income for all household members.

Social Security numbers for everyone in the household.

Photo identification for all household members aged 18 and older.

Food stamp certification letter indicating the current monthly amount.

Birth certificates for children aged five or younger residing in the household.

Tenant calculation form, if living in public housing (e.g., Panama City, Springfield, Royal American, Section 8, or HUD).

Proof of disability, if applicable.
