Line dancing is alive and well across Bay County. Whether you already know the Electric Slide, are ready to tackle the latest country routine or have never stepped onto a dance floor, three recurring local gatherings make it easy to get involved.
No partner is required, and each location welcomes beginners. All you need is comfortable footwear, a willingness to learn and perhaps a little courage for that first trip onto the dance floor.
Tuesday Nights with Boots on the Bay
Boots on the Bay Panama City Line Dancers brings classic favorites and newer line dances to the Panama City Center for the Arts every Tuesday evening. The group was formerly known as Slick Kickers Panama City and is led by Tammy Smith and Teresa Hinckley.
Doors open at 5:45 p.m., followed by beginner instruction at 6 p.m. The introductory lesson gives newcomers time to learn basic steps before the evening transitions into nonstop line dancing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Recent event listings continue to confirm the Tuesday schedule, $5 admission and instruction from Smith and Hinckley.
The downtown setting adds something special to the experience. The Center for the Arts is a city-owned historic building managed by the Bay Arts Alliance and serves as a community gathering place for arts, culture, exhibitions and classes.

Because the arts center occasionally hosts special programs, dancers should check Boots on the Bay’s social media before attending. This Tuesday Aug 4th has been canceled, and will return Aug 11th.
Thursday Night Throwdown at Ms. Newby’s
Thursday nights bring a high-energy line-dancing party to the upstairs dance floor at Ms. Newby’s in Panama City Beach.
“The Coolest Heather” leads the dancing with the Outlaw Steppers of PC, while DJ Saint keeps the music moving throughout the evening. Line-dancing lessons begin at 7:30 p.m., with open dance requests mixed into the schedule so experienced dancers and first-timers can both enjoy time on the floor.
The atmosphere is casual, lively and designed for a fun night out with friends. Beginners can follow along with the lessons, while experienced dancers can request their favorite routines and show off their boot-scootin’ skills.
Guests can also purchase drinks from the bar while enjoying the music and dancing. Participation in the line dancing is free, although regular age restrictions and venue policies apply.

For a free and relaxed introduction to line dancing, head to the Glenwood Community Center on Friday afternoons.
Brenda Blue leads the one-hour gathering from 1 to 2 p.m., teaching routines in an encouraging atmosphere designed for experienced dancers and complete beginners alike. The City of Panama City’s recreation calendar confirms that the program is held Fridays at the Glenwood Community Center and is free to attend.
This daytime session is a good option for anyone who prefers a smaller time commitment or wants to practice the fundamentals before joining a longer evening dance. Participants may come alone or bring friends, and no previous experience is necessary.

The weekend gets moving at Duplin Winery in Panama City Beach, where dancers gather on the porch each Saturday afternoon.
The sessions are led by “The Coolest Heather” with Outlaw Steppers of PC. All ages and experience levels are welcome, making it an easy addition to a Saturday outing with family or friends. A July 2026 local event listing confirms recurring Saturday dancing at Duplin Winery from 1 to 4 p.m.
Duplin’s Panama City Beach location offers a rustic Southern setting with tasting bars, specialty treats and outdoor entertainment areas. Guests can enjoy the winery atmosphere while watching the dancers or learning a few routines themselves.
Participation in the dancing is free. Wine and other purchases are separate, and guests should follow all applicable age requirements for alcoholic beverages.

Four Days of Dancing Across Bay County
With four recurring gatherings held on different days of the week, local residents and visitors have several ways to experience line dancing.
Boots on the Bay offers a full evening with dedicated beginner instruction on Tuesdays. Ms. Newby’s delivers an energetic Thursday-night dance party with a DJ, lessons and open requests. Brenda Blue provides a welcoming daytime class on Fridays, while Duplin Winery offers casual Saturday dancing in a lively outdoor setting.
One of line dancing’s biggest advantages is that you do not need to arrive with a partner. Everyone performs the same sequence of steps, allowing dancers to participate individually while still feeling like part of a group.
Schedules may occasionally change because of holidays, private functions, weather or other special events. Check with the host or venue before making a special trip.
